Program Studi D4 Manajemen Perhotelan Benchmarking kunjungi Malaysia

In order to support UNP towards becoming a World Class University, the FPP Hospitality Management D4 Study Program brought 50 students accompanied by five lecturers to visit Malaysia on 15-18 November 2023. On this occasion, the visit was aimed at universities, industry , and also tourism authorities. Students were accompanied by Deputy Dean 1 of FPP, Dr. Kasmita, M.Si; Youmil Abrian, SE., MM, Pasaribu, M.Si.Par, CHE, Rian Surenda, SEI., MM., Vischa Mansyera Pratama, M.Pd. and also Violintikha Harmawan, M.Pd.

At the time of departure, the group was accompanied and officially released by the Head of the Tourism Department who is also the coordinator of the D4 Hospitality Management Study Program, Feri Ferdian Ph.D, CHE. On this occasion, he said that students should take advantage of this opportunity to dig up as much information as possible and gain extraordinary experiences from this international activity, and hoped that many collaborations could result from this activity in order to increase the Global Reputation of the Hotel Management Study Program.

The first visit was aimed at the Management and Science University (MSU) Campus where on this campus there is a Hospitality study program which is a study program with a ranking of 49 in the world, and there will be a lot of collaboration for all study programs within the FPP. Next, the group headed to Taylor’s University, where the Hospitality & Tourism sector on this campus was ranked 16th in the world (QS World Ranking by subject) and also the number 1 best Private University in Malaysia. At Taylor’s University, the group was invited to do a Campus Tour and also a presentation from two people (1) Dr. Rupam Konar, Program Director – Ph.D. (Hospitality & Tourism) and MSc. (Tourism), Associate Director – Center for Research and Innovation in Tourism (CRiT), Managing Editor – Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism (APJIHT); (2) Associate Professor Dr Balasubramanian Kandappan, who is Program Director – MIHM & MGHM Programmes, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management.

After visiting the two best campuses in the Hospitality sector, the group visited the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur which has 560 rooms, which is a 5 star hotel next to the World Trade Center. This visit also resulted in an agreement for Student Internship cooperation which will soon be followed up with an MoU. Apart from that, the group also visited Tourism Malaysia in Putra Jaya as one of the stakeholders in charge of managing Malaysian tourism.

Dr. Kasmita, as Deputy Dean 1 of FPP also said that this visit was extraordinary, and there would be a lot of collaboration that would be established, so that it could increase the Global Reputation for UNP, especially the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. The results of this visit will also be immediately reported to the Dean of FPP and of course also the Chancellor of UNP. Students are also expected to have global insight and of course can also encourage increased FPP collaboration with the various stakeholders visited, especially the D4 Hospitality Management study program in the form of academic mobility, student internship programs, joint degree programs (triple awards program), and other collaborations.
